You may believe that the only gear a runner needs is a pair of running shoes. Although this may be true, we runners like our gadgets just as much as anyone else. And when it comes to running gadgets there are plenty. So how do you know what to gift the runner in your life? I’ve got you covered. Below are a few of my running favorites that I’m sure will put a smile on any runner’s face.

RECOVERY SANDALS

Slipping into a pair of recovery sandals after a long run is like getting your own personal foot massage. There are lots of different brands; Oofos, Hoka PR Soles. Cost $40-$60

SOCKS

This may not sound like the most exciting gift but believe me, runners LOVE their socks and can never have enough. Two of my favorite brands are bombas and balega. Cost $15-$20

BIB & MEDAL DISPLAY

There’s a lot of things you can say about runners but humble may not be one of them. WE LIKE TO SHOW OFF OUR BLING!! There are so many options when it comes to showcasing our medals and bibs. Etsy is a great place to look. Cost can range anywhere from $15 to over $100.

SHIRTS THAT CELEBRATE RUNNING

Runners also like to let everyone know that they are runners. Running shirts are a perfect way of doing this. Some shirts are funny (and couldn’t we all use a little extra humor these days), others are inspirational. If you want to go the extra mile, you could customize a shirt from a particular race. Cost $25

ENTRY INTO A VIRTUAL RACE

It’s all about the virtual race these days. Why not enter yourself and friend/relative/spouse into a race for the new year. Not only is it something you can do together but it would provide a bit of added motivation for you both. Cost is typically around $30

SUNGLASSSES

Even when the sun is not shining runners need to protect their eyes from the elements. These Goodr sunglasses make a perfect gift and will not break the bank. Cost $25

WINTER RUNNING GLOVES

This is a great gift for any runner living in a colder climate. You could splurge on a pair, like these from lululemon, or grab a few from target and use as a stocking stuffer. Cost $5-$45

COOKBOOK FOR RUNNERS

I don’t know many runners who aren’t also into their nutrition. You cannot go wrong with a cookbook, and there are a lot of great ones out there. These are two of my favorites. I also really like The Runner’s Kitchen by Emma Coburn and Meals on the Run by Runners World (their avocado bowtie pasta is a staple in our house). Cost $30
